What's Your Style of Family Business?

I've always had a strong interest in helping businesses operate well. These days, I work very closely with family businesses and large family enterprises. Businesses that have lasted generations and are still going. Businesses that have fought tooth and nail. Businesses that continue to survive, despite the odds of thousands of businesses failing every year. 

I'm also the founder of the Sassy Successionist podcast, where I talk about family businesses and succession. Can you tell this is my thing? 

Every entrepreneurial family business (and the resulting family office) is different, simply because people are different.

However, as I've studied these family businesses more and more, I've found that many of the leadership and family styles can be categorized into 4 general types. 

I am aware that narrowing down to 4 types is simplified - but I consider this a start to understanding how your family business functions. Once you understand the basics, you can really dig in.
